Lodge Photographs
Silver City, Nevada is on the edge of the Virginia City area, which, at one point, was home to four Lodges - Virginia City #3, Amity #4, Silver Star #5, and Escurial #7, all originally chartered as California Lodges.
Amity Lodge #4 had, at its peak, some 194 members, but with the decline in mining activity and the proximity of the other Lodges, never increased beyond that point.
Ernest Zebal, Past Master, Trustee and Historian of Amity #4 describes it best:
"Our stated meetings are the first Thursday of each month, except July and August. We have 83 members. The population of Silver City is about 50 souls, including any dogs running at large. If you happen to be in the area, please let me know as I am a personal friend of the parking valet at the spacious downtown parking mall and can arrange for a choice spot. Our Silver City International Airport is currently closed and under renovation, but if you use the Reno/Tahoe International Airport I can arrange transportation to Lodge. We would enjoy having you!"As you can see from the pictures below, the building has been maintained well and is in excellent condition - notice the dropoff of the hill behind the Lodge building ... even though you enter through a street-level door, you're "in upper quarters" quite rapidly!
